After the lecture, there will then be a panel discussing questions like whether there has been a neo-liberal and corporate capture of Mandela's legacy, can the Mandela way be useful in historical conflicts like Palestine Israel and can a progressive international solidarity movement still be possible with the growing right wing populism and imperialism growing all over the world.
In the panel:
Marianne Millstein, researcher at OsloMet. Has also written extensively on different issues regarding South Africa. She co-wrote the last chapter of the book on South Africa's history with Tore Linné Eriksen.
Bill Derman is a Professor at NMBU who has written extensively about Africa and Southern Africa in particular. He has edited and written books about Africa and brings a global look at Mandela, Africa and conflict.
The event will be moderated by Michell Mpike, a South African and founder of Inklusive Books, an Oslo based publishing house. She is also a researcher of social and education policy, as well as a trained facilitator
The event is open and free to all! Snacks will be served.
